Inspired by the tales of South America related by the gypsies from the Terekhovo village, Andreyev lives through a period of enthusiasm about Latin American musical genres. Here, tango becomes his main affection and inspiration. At the time, many people have seen the composer pacing around the Pushkin Hills, his moves following an energetic and clean Creolic rhythm.
He even tried to open a tango studio in his native village but, alas, the idea failed to find enough support among his fellow villagers. A.P. Khernova was the only person to embrace Andreyev’s Argentinian ardor, demonstrating her quite impressive dancing talents in the process. Thus, the tango “La Skobarista” was born against the background of motherly nature, dedicated to Anna Petrovna Khernove, the composer’s one and only dancing partner and lover.
